Andi Dorfman, best known from The Bachelorette, has faced postpartum complications after welcoming her first child, Harper Bell Hart, with husband Blaine Hart. Less than a week after Harper's birth, Andi underwent surgery to remove hematomas, collections of blood outside blood vessels, which caused her significant pain.
Sharing her experience on Instagram Stories on December 27, Andi revealed, "After getting home, I was in a ton of pain and it was getting worse by the day. Despite the internet saying recovery takes time, I still felt something was wrong and finally after trying every home remedy, called my doctors and they told me to come right in."
The 37-year-old was diagnosed with one large and one small hematoma, requiring a "very straightforward procedure." However, Andi admitted that the surgery was daunting, especially with a six-day-old baby at home.
She expressed mixed emotions about prioritizing her health over her newborn. "I felt some guilt worrying about myself instead of my daughter after giving birth," Andi shared. "But I realized she's no good if I'm no good."
Andi, who endured 28 hours of labor before Harper's arrival on December 22, encouraged new mothers to trust their instincts.
"No matter how clueless you are about motherhood, you still know your body best! Listen to it! Yes, recovery is tough and everyone is different but your instincts are valid (and probably right)."

On a lighter note, Andi posted a video of Blaine playing with Harper, captioned, "When Daddy is on duty." Blaine, too, expressed admiration for his wife, sharing on December 25, "Thankful for our growing family but most importantly to an incredibly loving, caring and strong wife (and now mother) in @andidorfman. Harper and I are extremely lucky to have you as our navigational beacon."
Andi and Blaine tied the knot in Italy in 2023, and despite recent challenges, they are cherishing the joy of their new family this holiday season.
