Rating: 3.5/5Price: 395Pop: Together with solo albums and collaborations included, this is Donny Osmond's 60th album released to mark his 50 years in showbiz. Each of the cover versions in here has a story to them. He reportedly recalled how the Beatles' The Long And Winding Road was selected here because of a random encounter with Paul McCartney in the early 70s. The opening Ma Cherie Amour (by Stevie Wonder who also plays harmonica here) is soothing and definitely one of the album's standout tracks. Donny knocks it out of the ballpark. Ben is meant as a tribute to MJ while Moon River makes for a great romantic number to slow dance to. Could She Be Mine's tune is contagious and Under My Skin (Sinatra) is delivered with a vocal style that smacks of verve and panache. The same can be said for his version of Broken Wings. And far from the last track being an afterthought, he does a version of Prince's Nothing Compares 2 U (made famous by Sinead O'Connor) that is both refreshing and beautiful, given the song's delicate touch. Apart from being a great collection of songs, this one has class with a capital 'S'. Donny's image has always been quintessentially clean-cut, and the music in here is to match.
