While the actor attended the 41st Annual Santa Barbara International Film Festival, he recalled what it was like for him to work on ‘Punch-Drunk Love.’ As reported by People, the star talked about how he and Philip Seymour Hoffman worked on the quirky film together.
Calling Seymour “one of the best actors of our generation”, and citing that he loved working with the iconic actor back in 2022. He recalled, “We'd walk around… do the scenes, and we'd go at it different directions and then on the day when we shot that we kind of kept to ourselves and stayed in our own little worlds. Then when Paul called action, we went at it and went toe to toe and felt what we felt and I loved it.”
He further added that rehearsing and practising again and again helped the two of them understand the complexity of their characters. He cited that they were able to channel their character’s emotions properly and were able to deliver an iconic performance on the big screen.
About ‘Punch-Drunk Love’
The plot of ‘Punch-Drunk Love’ revolves around the life of a lonely novelty item salesman who wants to be in a romantic relationship. He falls for Lena, though, which results in him getting contacted by the manager of the phone line. Played by Seymour, the manager works on extorting money from him, forcing him to confront a lot of his fears.
