'12 Years A Slave' sweeps Oscar nominations
Historical drama ‘12 Years a Slave’ received top billing as the nominations for the Academy Awards 2014 were announced. The film has received nominations for the Best Picture, Best Actor, Best Director, Best Supporting Actor and Best Supporting Actress categories.

Best Picture category will have strong competition from 12 Years a Slave as lead actor Chiwetel Ejiofor will compete with nominees like Tom Hanks, Leonardo Di Caprio and Christian Bale.

Actor Michael Fassbender too got an Oscar nod in the Best Supporting Actress category. Director Steve McQueen too scored a nomination in the Best Director category. Actress Lupita Nyong’o too landed a nomination in the Best Actress Category.
Other nominations for 12 Years a Slave are for Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Production Design. The nominations were announced from Beverly Hills, California by Academy President Cheryl Boone-Isaacs and Thor actor Chris Hemsworth.
