'The Nun'

has hit the theatres on this Friday in India.



The film is a spinoff of

'The Conjuring 2'

. Set in 1950's Romanian monastery, the film features the demonic Nun from the 'Conjuring 2'.

The film has raked in Rs 7.75 crore on its first-day collection (India), according to the BoxOfficeIndia.com. Reportedly, this is the highest collection for a Hollywood horror movie and the second highest ever in India for a horror film after 'Raaz 3'.

The film is the fifth installment in the 'Conjuring' series. Helmed by Corin Hardy, the film stars Demián Bichir, Taissa Farmiga and Jonas Bloquet. The story of the film is about a priest and a Catholic novitiate and an unholy secret in 1952 Romania by them.

The release of film clashed with two Bollywood film,

J P Dutta

's

'Paltan'

and Imtiaz Ali's brother Sajid Ali's

'Laila Majnu'

. However, going by the BoxOfficeIndia.com reports the collections of the film are more than both of them.
