David Corenswet’s ‘Superman’ Soars Past Brad Pitt’s ‘F1’ for 3rd Biggest Hollywood Weekend Opening in India

David Corenswet’s much-anticipated debut as the Superman has taken flight at the Indian box office, registering an impressive Rs 25.50 crore over its opening weekend. The new Superman film has outperformed Brad Pitt’s adrenaline-fueled F1, which clocked Rs 21.4 crore, securing the third-biggest Hollywood opening weekend ever in India.

Released across multiple languages and formats, including 3D, Superman enjoyed a strong three-day run. The film opened on Friday with Rs 7 crore, gained momentum on Saturday with Rs 9.5 crore, and held steady on Sunday with an estimated Rs 9 crore. The multilingual release strategy contributed significantly to its reach, with the English and Hindi versions accounting for the bulk of the earnings.


Brad Pitt’s F1, despite its high-octane action and critical buzz, couldn’t match the iconic appeal of Superman. With Rs 21.4 crore, it delivered a respectable performance but fell short of the box office power of the red-caped superhero.

However, Superman couldn’t leap over the towering success of Jurassic Park: Birth, headlined by Scarlett Johansson, which remains the highest Hollywood opening in India of 2025 with Rs 39 crore. The sci-fi thriller blended nostalgia and spectacle, drawing massive footfalls across metros and tier-2 cities alike.

Another major contender, Tom Cruise’s Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning, also edged out Superman with a Rs 33.50 crore collection over its two-day weekend. The film was released on Saturday to keep its release intact with the other markets across the globe.

Still, Superman’s Rs 25.50 crore weekend haul marks a major win for Warner Bros. and DC Studios in the Indian market. The film has received positive word-of-mouth for Corenswet and James Gunn’s fresh take on the character, action sequences, and emotional depth, potentially giving it long legs beyond the first weekend.

Superman also outperformed the Hindi releases this week like Rajkummar Rao’s Maalik which earned about Rs 14.25 crore and Aankhon Ki Gustakiyaan which collected Rs 1.2 crore.
