Celebrating cinema’s best with the black lady
The annual celebration of Bengali cinema, the Joy Filmfare Awards Bangla 2025, was officially announced at a press conference on March 10. The event was held at a five-star hotel in Kolkata and attended by actress Subhashree Ganguly, Sunil Agarwal, chairman & co-founder, Joy Personal Care, Poulomi Roy, chief marketing officer, Joy Personal Care, and Jitesh Pillai, editor-in-chief, Filmfare.
The press conference kicked off with a lamp-lighting ceremony, followed by the unveiling of the iconic Black Lady trophy, which will soon be awarded to the finest talents of Bengali cinema in the 13th edition of the Filmfare Awards Bangla.
Elated to have unveiled the trophy, Subhashree said, “They say dreams come true, but unveiling this trophy and being part of this moment is beyond any dream I have ever had. I’m truly excited for this year’s Filmfare Awards and eagerly looking forward to the celebration of Bangla cinema’s finest.”
Scheduled to be held at the hotel on March 18, with filmmakers Raj Chakrabarty and Shiboprosad Mukherjee anchoring the event alongside actress Puja Banerjee, this year’s award ceremony will also feature spectacular performances by Subhashree Ganguly, Barkha Bisht, and Puja Banerjee.
While Ajogyo, Bohurupi, Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale, Khadaan, Padatik, and Shontaan are this year’s nominations in the Best Film category, Kaushik Ganguly (Ajogyo), Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee (Bohurupi), Pratim D Gupta (Chaalchitro: The Frame Fatale), Raj Chakrabarty (Babli), Soojit Dutta (Khadaan), and Srijit Mukherji (Padatik) have been nominated in the Best Director category. The 25 categories also include three Critic’s Choice segments.
