Ranchi is like second home for Sambhavna

The actress, who has more than 150 Bhojpuri item songs to her credit, speaks to TOI
Usually portrayed as bold, brash and outspoken, Sambhavna Seth ��������� who has more than 150 Bhojpuri item songs and a Bigg Boss to her credit ��������� was a picture of calmness when TOI talked to her during her recent visit to the city. ���������Since the festive season is on, I'm busy doing stage shows right now.Bhojpuri films are also taking up a lot of time, with a new movie slated to go on floors next month,��������� she said.
Being a true Delhiite, we asked Sambhavna how easy it was for her to work in Bhojpuri movies and she said, ���������Jab mujhe pehli Bhojpuri film mili thi, Manoj Tiwariki Dharti Kare Pukaar, us time mere paas koi kaam nahi tha.Mujhe koi bhi nahi poochta tha, that too, after I had worked in Hindi movies like 36 China Town, Kaafila etc. In fact, I had started my career with Paagalpan, in which I played the second lead. But suddenly, I was out of work aur mujhe kuch samajh bhi nahi aa raha tha ki aisa kyun hua. Hence, when I was offered my first Bhojpuri film, I thought of the remuneration and accepted the offer, thinking ki ye ek kar leti hun. But that song became such a hit ki uske baad films ati gayi aur main karti gayi. Now, after doing so many films, Bhojpuri industry has become my second home. Main jab bhi Ranchi ya Patna jati hun, bohot apnapan lagta hai,��������� she said.
Ask her if she is content with her tag as ���������that item girl from Bhojpuri movies���������, she said, ���������I don���������t care. I have done item songs in Bollywood too. So many established actresses of our times are doing item songs themselves, but still don���������t want to be called item girls. Also, if you will look at the actors today, they are willing to explore. Even Amitabh Bachchan has done Bhojpuri films, incidentally in which I also did an item number. There is so much transfer of talent happening across film industries in India, that I think, it would be more prudent to call it the Indian film industry, instead of bifurcating it along linguistic lines.���������
With the sixth season of Bigg Boss currently on air, we asked her if Bigg Boss was suitable for prime time slot. ���������See, out of the total footage of 24 hours, viewers ko bas ek ghante ka show dikhaya jata hai. So, obviously they include all the possible masala in that limited timeframe. If you are so concerned about what your kids are watching, then ban the internet first. Even then you can���������t stop them from watching this kind of stuff,��������� Sambhavna said.
As for the current season, Sambhavna is betting on former cricketer Navjot Singh Sidhu. ���������I have met him several times and he is a gem of a person. I think he will win,��������� she said.
Asked to comment on fellow housemate Ashmit���������s statement where he said Bigg Boss was running just because of Salman Khan, Sambhavna begged to differ. ���������Agar aisi baat hai to phir Ashmit Patel andar kya kar rahe the? He was there only for Veena Malik. Andar itna pyar aur bahar ate hi sab gayab? ��������� she said.
Finally, regarding her raging war of words with Sara Khan, TV actress and fellow Bigg Boss contestant, Sambhavna said, ���������Jo hua sabne dekha aur maximum logon ka yahi manna hai. At least I am doing something, but what is she doing? This kind of attack has only highlighted her level of desperation.���������
Sambhavna had earlier called Sara���������s marriage with Ali Merchant on Bigg Boss ���������a cheap publicity attempt���������, after which Sara had called Sambhavna a ���������C-grade heroine���������.
