What did Riddhi do on World Theatre Day?

On World Theatre Day today, Riddhi Sen was busy rehearsing for Swapnasandhani’s forthcoming production, Ekla Chawlo Re. Based on Utpal Dutt’s play, it’s adapted and directed Kaushik Sen, father of Riddhi. “What better could we have done on World Theatre Day than work on a play that’s so close to our hearts! The play will be performed on April 5 and April 10,” he announced.

Also, today being World Theatre Day, we are having a great time rehearsing at the theatre.” The play is on Gandhiji’s assassination and Debshankar will be seen as Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and Ashok Mukhopadhyay as Gandhiji. “My father will be seen as Lord Mountbatten and my mother (Reshmi Sen) as Kasturba Gandhi. Every year, we stage plays that we feel is important and have something to tell at that time. Last year, we did Taraye Taraye, which was about Van Gogh, and that time too my father said why we were staging the play. We’ll let the audience know why we chose this subject in a few days,” said the actor, who was honoured with the National Award for Best Actor for his part as a transgender in Kaushik Ganguly’s Nagarkirtan. Riddhi added that the play has a huge cast and many actors from Swapnasandhani will be seen in the play.
