Danseuse Tanusree Shankar is all geared up to celebrate the International Dance Day. The members of Ananda Shankar Centre for performing Arts have planned to put up a performance — a collage of four dance acts and a dance drama, The Child.
“We will be performing
Rabindranath Tagore’s The Child,” said Tanusree, who is the director of the play. Tagore’s The Child was originally written in English in a single night and later translated into Bengali.
“Debajyoti Mishra has composed the music for the piece. The dance drama is about 40-minute long,” she added.
Speaking on the stage production, Tanusree said, “Dinesh Poddar has designed the light for the drama. He has been working with me for a very long time — way before he became so famous. I think we are working for 20-25 years.” The dance drama is

She is a principal of a school in Kolkata and I would ask her for tips. When asked about her work, she said it was the ‘toughest’,” she said.
