Surajit recreates Madhusudan's life on stage
Thespian Surajit Bandyopadhyay of Natyoranga is busy with his new production, Sri Madhusudan. Directed by Swapan Sengupta, the script of the play is penned by Surajit. “My script is influenced by Bonoful, Bidhayak Bhattacharya, Utpal Dutt and Ghulam Murshid. I felt Michael Madhusudan’s character is extremely relevant in today’s social scenario,” Surajit told us.

His maternal uncle Swapan Kumar used to play Michael in jatra. “Debshankar (Halder), after watching the play, told me, ‘Mama Michael koreche bhagne korbe na?'” added Surajit with a smile. Besides Surajit, Amiya Shankar Halder, a veteran actor and brother of Debshankar, is playing Vidyasagar and Anindita Bandyopadhyay is seen as Henrietta.
