Sohag

Sen is back with her new play. With a working title, Chhoto Chhobi, the play revolves around the lives of four or five young aspiring filmmakers who graduated from a not-so-famous

film

school. “This is a story of intolerance and isolation. When I say intolerance, I don’t mean it is intolerance against minorities. It is something beyond that.” While most of the actors are from her group, Ensemble, interdisciplinary artiste

Sujoy

Prosad Chatterjee will also be seen as one of the major characters.

Talking about his character, Sujoy said, “The name of my character is Sanjib Roy, who is a suave corporate high-flyer. Though he loves his daughter, he has very little time for her. The best part of working with Sohagdi is that she always helps you to trace the backstories of the character and makes you understand the social dynamics. She is also the first person who invited me to read poems before two of her productions. In that way, she dearly appreciated my interest in interdisciplinary arts.”
The youngsters in the play decide to make a film and find a financier. They start working on an

anthology

that shows crumbling relationships and heartbreaks. Meanwhile, the relationships between the members of the group also go through several twists. “The play shows the crumbling values of the generation that is self-obsessed. On stage, there are stories weaved in to the original story. A play and the process of filmmaking go hand-in-hand and hence it is becoming an intriguing process,” Sohag added.
