The script is penned by thespian and co-founder of Nandikar, Asit Bandopadhyay, while Avirup worked on the choreography.
Elaborating on the venture, Asit Bandopadhyay told us, “This is a blend of acting, dance and music. It delves into the life of a boy and a girl who are in love with each other for 17 years. They meet once every year but can never marry due to certain limitations of the girl. On the 17th year, when they meet, the story takes a different turn. To see what happens to these two youngsters, one has to see the play.”
The musical theatre will take place on September 27 at an auditorium in south Kolkata. Debshankar, who had earlier worked with Asit, told us, “When we talk about Puja, we think of gorging on food or dressing up in new attire. However, Puja is also about relationships. This piece delves into the lives of a man and a woman and their journey of love. The play will be a gentle reminder of tender relationships during Puja time. Music and choreography are weaved in carefully in the play.”
