Come December and you will again be deported to the land of fantasies. This time, it’s the popular story of Alibaba by Kshirodprashad Bidyabinod that will see a new perspective shared by playwright
Ujjwal Chattopadhyay
.
While recreating popular stories of yesteryear is a trend that has been kept alive by many, Chattopadhyay has penned a post-modern understanding of the play. “It’s called
Marjina
and plays with a new logic. The
play
tries to interpret the consequences if it were made during the time when babu culture was prevalent and now when web series are popular. The play remains inconclusive stressing on the fact that reality can’t be explained,” said Chattopadhyay, who has also directed Marjina.
To be first staged in December this year, it stars a host of senior theatre, popular TV actors and models.
