Oihik to stage two plays that talk about society

will be staging their two important productions — Mahajoner Boitha and Like. Comment. Share. While the former talks about bestowing peace on humanity, the latter is about a group of friends interacting in the time of social media.
Directed by Arindam Roy, Mahajoner Boitha delves deep into the life of street artiste Bhavendra Mohan, aka Bhaba Pagla, who expressed his philosophy through easy lyrics to reach out to people. He had a talent of writing and composing songs instantly. In fact, during the Partition of Bengal, he played an important role as a social reformer, whose works helped pacify tormented people.
Meanwhile, Like. Comment. Share is directed by Swati Roy. It is a full-length drama, where a group college pals get united through social networking sites after a long time. They happily relive the moments of joy in the past and also discuss the roller-coaster ride of their life at present. The play also shows how social media slowly makes an entry in these people’s lives. From consuming news, forming opinions to socialising with friends — all their expressions and activities are now impacted by the social media lingo. In Like Comment Share, director Swati Roy tells a tale of a generation that reluctantly got programmed to these social media revolutions and now carrying on with it. Amidst joy and merriment of their reunion, events take a sudden turn when the hosts teenage son comes back home in a distressed situation. Both the plays will be staged on August 11 at a south Kolkata auditorium.
