Meanwhile, the team is also busy with their recent play, Archimedes-er Mrityu. Written by Nabyendu Sen, the play was earlier staged by the writer about 20 years ago. Chandan and his team brought it on stage as their year’s production.

“I think the play is still relevant. So, we did not change the script. The play focuses on how science is often exploited by the state and instead of using it for the benefit of the common people, it is used as a tool for mass destruction,” Chandan said.

Besides all their proscenium productions, the group is busy with their intimate space, Offstage, at Kanad Mancha, near Rashbehari. Recently, they have adapted one of their proscenium plays, Ganesh Gatha, for intimate theatre.

Ganesh Gatha is a 100-minute play that features Shantilal Mukherjee, Rwitobroto Mukherjee and others. “Harimadhav Mukhopadhyay’s Ganesh Gatha is a social satire in the guise of a comedy. Chandan kaka has been trying to give it an offstage touch. At Kanad Mancha, we have made provisions so that the audience could sit on three sides of the stage. We staged Ganesh Gatha there,” said Rwitobroto.
