Mirzafar completes 25 shows

Bratya Basu’s latest production, Mirzafar, has completed 25 shows in just a few months. The Goutam Halder-Kanchan Mullick starter that premiered in September, was staged for 25th time last week.

“I am pleasantly surprised to see that it took very little time to be popular. The audience reaction is very positive. I think the historical narration attracted the audience. People have heard these names —

, Mir Zafar et al. In this play, they are watching the historical drama, what took place during that time,” Bratya told us.

Kanchan Mullick, who plays Mir Zafar’s son Miran, is also on cloud nine. “I have been doing theatre for a while now and never in my life saw a production staging 25 shows so fast. We have staged in remote places of Khanakul, Arambag and so on, and I have seen thousands of people watching it in rapt attention. While it has been an exhausting ride, it also gives me immense pleasure to be able to be a part of such a play.”

in 1757 in Mirzafar. Veteran actor Goutam Halder is playing Mir Zafar. Bratya’s wife, eminent actress Poulomi Basu, is playing the character of Lutfunnesa. Besides directing the play, Bratya is also playing Lord Clive. Also, Raghab Chatterjee and Jayati Chakraborty have done the playback in the play.
