Get ready for another cafe musical

High Street, the young members of Whole 9 Yards are all set to release a new musical, Pune Highway. The production will be staged this winter.

As the team has already declared that they want to explore alternative spaces for

theatre

, the new production too is meant for cafés. They usually term their productions café musicals that are performed in intimate spaces. This play promises to blend gastronomy with theatre.

Talking about the new production, the leader of the group, Abhrajit Sen, said, “I believe, it is an ancient recipe. It is a mixture of suspense and music, which is garnished with dance and drama. I like to call it a dish of morals and values wrapped around friendship, then breaded and pan-fried, sometimes even deep-fried.”

The team recently celebrated a successful stint of Taramandal — a café musical that has garnered appreciation from several quarters. To mark the day, the group hosted a show at a city auditorium in association with Alliance Francaise du Bengale. Based on Neel Chowdhuri’s Taramandal, the play is directed by Abhrajit Sen. The music is composed by Meghatithi Banerjee, Adil Rashid and Dibyokamal

. The play features Tanika Basu, Ananya Sen, Debopriyo Mukherjee, Polash Chaturvedi, Soumyadeep Chakraborty, Deeptodeep Chakraborty and Roshni Bhattacharya. It is choreographed by Ryan.

Whole 9 Yards’ another production, Harlesden High Street, too garnered much appreciation. Directed by Abhrajit, the play talks about people, who are forced to leave their homeland and settle down in other countries.
