Bratyajon to host two-day seminar

Kalindi Bratyajon is gearing up to host two talks honouring Bishnu Basu and Nitika Basu. The talks will be held on July 19 and 20 at Bangla Academy from 6.30 pm onwards.
On the first day, in Bishnu Basu Smarak Boktrita, theatre personality Goutam Halder will be talking on the relationship between an actor and director. Pankaj Munsi will be anchoring the talk. In the next day, artist

Hiran Mitra

will be talking on his perception of theatre in Nitika Basu Smarak Boktrita and Subrata Ghosh will be anchoring the evening.
Bratyajon has been organising such seminars since 2012. In a press note, the members of the group stated, “Practicing theatre is not just confined to staging productions. While staging plays is an important activity for a theatre group, we, the members of Kalindi Bratyajon, want to extend our programmes. That is the reason we organise such seminars, workshops and release theatre-related books and host other events apart from producing plays regularly.”
Thespian Bratya Basu — son of Bishnu Basu and Nitika Basu, and the patriarch of Kalindi Bratyajon — told us, “The primary reason of hosting this event is to remember Bishnu Basu and Nitika Basu. We have been organising this event for a long time and these two talks have become an integral part of our annual journal. Several other theatre personalities, including Debshankar Halder,

Arpita Ghosh

,

Meghnad Bhattacharya

and others, have earlier spoken on the relationship between actors and directors. This year, Noye Natuya’s Goutam Halder will be speaking on the same subject. After gathering 10 such important speeches, I have planned to collate them in a book.”
