With four full houses so far, Bratya Basu’s Mir Jafar is receiving rave reviews from the people in Kolkata. “They are not only full houses on the day of the show but the tickets have been sold in advance each day,” beamed playwright
Bratya Basu. He has not only directed the play but has also enacted the role of Lord Robert Clive in the story that chronicles the historical occurrences that took place after the bloody Battle of Plassey in 1757.
Mir Jafar, which turns the historical account into a contemporary political play, was staged at the Academy of Fine Arts, G D Birla Sabhaghar and Girish Mancha recently. “We are looking at doing more shows of Mir Jafar but will continue with the play for only a year,” shared Bratya.
