Anirban pens song for his upcoming play

After bagging accolades and awards for Kicchu Chaini Ami from Srijit Mukherji’s

regency, Anirban Bhattacharya has now penned another song. Used for the promotions of his forthcoming play, Pontu Laha 2.0, the song is composed and rendered by Debraj Bhattacharya. The song was uploaded on Pontu Laka 2.0’s social media page on October 21. “This is a promotional song and not a part of the play,” a disclaimer clearly stated.

With hard-hitting phrases and occasional cuss words, the song is already garnering attention on social media. While Ujan Chatterjee curated the video, Subhadeep B Guha arranged the music.

Pontu Laha 2.0 will premiere in Purba Paschim Annual Theatre this year. The festival will start on November 1 and the play will be staged on November 3. In fact, with this play, Anirban got back to direction for Sangharam. Based on

’s Mr Puntila and his Man Matti, Pontu Laha was taken up by Anirban a couple of years ago before he took a break from theatre. After it was stalled for a year, the actor is now set to stage it this year.

. A Theatre Formation Paribartak production, the play features veteran actor Asit Basu. “Anirban and I have worked together in Suman Mukhopadhyay’s Raja Lear. He also worked in my film, Ghya Chang Fou. This is for the first time I am going to direct him on stage. Meanwhile, I am also really excited to work with Asit Basu, who had worked with Utpal Dutt for very long,” Joyraj told us.
