Television celebs march demanding swift justice for RG Kar Medical College tragedy
The state has become the focal point of ongoing protests demanding a safer environment for women. From Tolly celebs to common people, everyone is raising their voice against the heinous rape and murder of the doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, which took place on August 9. Artistes from the television industry also took to the streets on Tuesday to demand justice for the RG Kar tragedy.
The rally started at Deshapriya Park and ended at Indrapuri Studio in Tollygunge. Actors like Bhaswar Chatterjee, Manasi Sinha, Koneenica Banerjee, Swagata Mukherjee, Anjana Basu, Rooqma Roy, Mainak Banerjee, Suman Banerjee, and others participated in the march.
Actress Koneenica Banerjee, who was seen walking with determination, demanded justice and said, "We women need to work night shifts to earn money; we can't stay at home if we are assigned night duties. Do these crimes only happen at night? They occur during the day as well. Let the law do its work, and let justice be served as quickly as possible."
Actress Swagata Mukherjee, also part of the rally, stated, "No one can tell a woman when to step out and when not to. Women should be safe at any cost. Those involved in the crime should be severely punished."
