Who's the latest musician to leave Kolkata for good?
Several musicians have left the city for Mumbai over the past few years. Among them, there’s Lagnajita Chakraborty, Shayok Banerjee, Rajkumar Sengupta, Subhajit Mukherjee, and others. The latest to join the bandwagon is Nilanjan Mukherjee. Announcing the news on social media, his musician friend Nabarun Bose wrote, “One of my favourite musicians from the city, is leaving Kolkata tomorrow and shifting to a dfifferent city.

Nilanjan da, I would like to take this opportunity to tell you what a massive influence you have always had on my musicality. I had met you when I was barely 19 years old and all those years of working together with you had taught me not only how to hit those perfect harmonies and how to use clustered chords, or how to feel the notes while playing the blues, but you also taught me the most important thing — how to properly listen to music. And you’ll always be one of the sweetest and one of the most real and honest people that I have known. I feel proud to be your fan and honoured to be your bandmate and your brother. May you always keep inspiring the youth. All the very best for this new chapter in your life. Hope to see you soon.” Nilanjan started out as the guitarist of Lakkhichhara and later formed his own music outfit, Colors. Thanking Nabarun on the same post, Nilanjan said making an album for Colors was an experience of a lifetime. Nabarun and Nilanjan were part of Colors at one point in time.
