This one month in my hometown has been nostalgic: Antara

On Friday, singer Antara Mitra appeared for the final paper of her Masters in Bengali literature exam in her hometown, Maslandapur. In fact, the Gerua and Kesariya singer has been working out of her hometown for more than a month now. “April 7 was the last exam date, and I had a show in Delhi on April 6. So, I had to rush straight to the exam hall after landing in Kolkata. And I thoroughly enjoyed the whole process of appearing for a three-hour examination in a classroom. Studies have always been my priority in life. But after graduation, I went to Mumbai and had to struggle a lot to get a foothold. So, I couldn’t complete my post-graduation. So now, when I got a chance, I completed my Master’s. I want to complete my PhD next,” said Antara, who also recorded a Bengali song, Ore Mon Re, for the film, Fatafati, during her stay.
When asked how it felt to be back in her hometown? “This one month in my hometown has been nostalgic; it took me back to my school and college days. I feel things remain the same, we change as people. So, for the people of Maslandapur, I’m still their barir meye! I still touch my elders’ feet to seek their blessings ahead of an exam or any good work,” said the singer, who is flying back to Mumbai today, with a smile.
