After getting the news of Wajid Khan’s demise, musician and
composer Mayookh Bhaumik
is in a state of shock. “It has been a really difficult night since I heard about the passing of one of my
favourite composers
, Wajid Khan. It’s a personal loss for me on several different levels. I’m a composer myself and he was exactly my age. It’s the loss of a fellow artiste, colleague and a musician I greatly admired. I have very fond childhood memories of Sajid and Wahid Bhai at my Guruji, Ustad
Sabir Khan Sahaab’s, house in the late ’90s. Guruji would conduct tabla and
ghazal
classes and we would sit there learning together from the master and playing. My heart and prayers go out to Sajid Bhai and his entire family. Bollywood and music at large has sustained an incredible and irreparable loss. Rest in peace maestro,” said Mayookh.
