Tanmoy Bose to compose for Abogahon

Percussionist Tanmoy Bose is making a comeback in films with Abogahon. He last composed for Anuranan. The movie stars Soumitra Chatterjee and Aparna Sen in lead roles and is being directed by Anumita Dasgupta. Bratya Basu and Arpita Chatterjee are also playing important parts in this movie while Goutam Halder plays the role of a transgender.

Tanmoy Bose isn’t a regular when it comes to composing for a film. The musician, who often remains busy with his independent compositions, doesn’t get much time to compose for films. When asked the reason behind taking this project up, he said that the reason is experimentation. Elaborating, he said that he has decided on a cover of a famous jazz song, The Nearness of You, for the film’s title song.

He has always wondered why we always use Bengali songs as covers and not English songs. The educated, urban crowd also listen to songs in languages other than Bengali.

Apart from the jazz, Tanmoy has also included Rabindrasangeet and Lalan Fakir’s folk songs. Abogahon is a serious film and he wanted to make sure that the music carries the essence of the film. He has kept the music of film to a minimum music so that the story does get overshadowed by the music. Tanmoy wrapped up with him expressing how happy he is for getting this opportunity.
