Interdisciplinary artist Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee and vocalist Chaitali Lahiri will be collaborating to celebrate humanity, the universal creed that binds the world, through the arts. To celebrate India’s 73rd year of independence, the show, titled ‘UTTARAN’ opens on August 30th at 8.30pm on the Facebook page of SPCkraft.
The readings will comprise works of Rabindranath Tagore, Subhash Mukhopadhyay, Angshuman Kar, MayaAngelou, Kahlil Gibran, Salil Chowdhury and many others and will be performed by the members of the online section of the collective.
A total of 40-45 artists from India and abroad will be presenting these texts. The songs ranging from Tagore to the title track of The Sound of Music will be performed by acclaimed artists like
Rupankar Bagchi, Lopamudra Mitra,
Jayati Chakraborty, Neepabithi Ghosh Dasgupta, Debamalya Chattopadhyay, Chandrabali Rudra Dutta, Deepabali Dutta, Sromona Chakraborty and Chaitali Lahiri.
Thespian Sohag Sen will read an excerpt from ‘THE RELIGION OF MAN’. The songs that will reflect the ethos of the program are 'AAJI BANGLADESHER HRIDOY HOTE', 'EKBAAR BIDAAY DE MAA', 'MAAER DEWA MOTA KAAPOR', 'AYE MERE PYARE WATAN' and many others. The show has been researched by Chandrima M. Chatterjee.
