St Xavier’s Alumni Association and Pt Subhen Chatterjee bring together artistes of Bengal for a music video
The COVID-19 scare around the world had St Xavier's College (Calcutta) Alumni Association and
"When I was approached by Father Dominic Savio, I agreed to conceptualise the entire work but wanted it to involve and reach out to as many people as possible. St Xavier's College Kolkata's annual convention believes in the tagline — Beyond Boundaries. So, I wanted even non-Xaverians to be a part of it as a symbol of brotherhood in the state. I also wanted it to be in Hindi for a wider reach," said Pt Subhen.
The song, Jai Ho Maa, depicts ruthless human activities that destroyed nature and why it is important to plead mercy from Mother Earth. The video explains that it's her turn to save the nature from all the human wrong doings. The video will feature a host of popular names from Bengal.
"I am a part of this music video simply because Subhenda requested me to be one of the many. I have a lot of respect for him and I will be there to support his initiatives whenever possible. Besides, he also told me that it involves non-Xaverians too. So far, I have recorded my part of the song. The video part is still left," said Anupam Roy.
Besides him, it will also feature singers like Rupankar Bagchi, Jolly Mukherjee, Iman Chakraborty and Jojo Mukherjee, among others. Actors Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Abir Chatterjee, Gargee RoyChowdhury and Paayel Sarkar will feature too. It has indrustrialists Harsh Neotia, Sanjeev Goenka, Sanjay Budhia and sports personalities Jaidip Mukherjea, Ranadeb Bose and Devang Gandhi, apart from some filmmakers and dancers from Bengal.
"The moment I heard the track I was sure about being a part of this project. Besides, it is for a good cause and why shouldn't one agree to it? I have recorded my part and sent it to Pt Subhen Chatterjee. We all did our tracks individually from home like it is done during lockdown. It will be then edited together," said Iman.
The song has been penned in by Anish Raghupathy, mixed and mastered by Suvam Moitra, drummer Sambit Chatterjee and percussionist Ratul Shankar did the rhythm design and video edited by Utsav Dan.
