Poet
Srijato
has reacted sharply on the troll attack of singer
Lopamudra Mitra
. On Friday, she posted on
Facebook, “We are common people. I’d definitely want revenge if someone from my family gets killed. I’d want war. But those power-monger politicians, who do not care about these 44 lives, can do anything to gain public sympathy. Where is the lacuna? Let’s be cautious.
Jai Hind
. We are not just common people, we are silly commoners.” Her post evoked strong reactions from both her fans as well as trolls. Later, Srijato, who has been trolled for various post, said, “What
Lopamudra
has posted is her opinion and we all can have our independent opinion. It is a heinous and cowardice attack that I condemn. However, what Lopa has faced after posting her opinion is also not acceptable. These trolls have nothing else to do. In this online space, they act as fascists.”
Terming the trolls as the “modern-day sadist people”, the poet said, “In last three/four years, I have seen trolls very closely. They don’t allow any voice of dissent. They tend to dictate what to say, what to write and what to sing. I have been suffering them for years and I learned how to ignore them. In front of you, they will not have a word to say. They are obnoxiously vocal only when they can hide behind social media. My wife, Durba, too has faced a lot and all because I wrote something that they did not like. I have learnt how to ignore them. Lopa is a sensitive, wise person. She would ignore them too, I believe.
