Soumita Saha composes new song for Durga Puja

Keeping Durga Puja in mind musician Soumita Saha has composed Rupang Dehi, which is inspired by Durga Saptashati’s depiction of the goddess as a healer, where they say Devi Souvagyam Arogyam Dehi Devi Parama Sukham the piece symbolically honors the extraordinary sacrifice of women doctors who heroically battled the COVID-19 crisis.
“I have crafted this song in the turbulent times of delayed justice. It speaks in favour of hope, symbolizing the warrior Goddess’s arrival, promising the triumph of light after the night’s turbulence. In Durga Saptashoti there are lines that praise the warrior goddess as Devi Prachanchada Dourdandya, daitya darpa nishundini . It echoes the collective yearning for resilience and renewal in trying times.” She added, “I have crafted this song to revere Devi Durga as the fierce warrior, drawing parallels with the valorous women serving in the Indian Army and those fearless activists who, armed with torches and raised voices, stand resolute against societal injustices.”
