Somlata’s magical voice turns ‘Shrimati’ song ‘Shon Shon’ a melancholic melody

The first song from Arjunn Dutta’s next film ‘Shrimati’ is here and it’s a soothing composition by Soumya Rit along with the soulful rendition by Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury. Titled ‘Shon Shon’, the song beautifully encapsulates the journey of a housewife from an upper-middle-class family in search of her own identity against all odds like society’s glitz and glamour.


The lyrics and composition by the very talented Soumya Rit surely adds an extra flavor to Somlata’s mellifluous voice and complements Swastika Mukherjee’s every expression we see in the song.

While the arrangement and programming are by Rahul Sarkar, Mahesh Shukla is in guitar and Oindra Kumar Dutta is in Violin. The melodious song has been mix and mastered by Subhasis Pathak.

‘Shrimati’ starring Swastika Mukherjee, Soham Chakraborty, Kheya Chattopadhyay, Trina Saha, Barkha Bisht Sengupta among others is a sweet family story. It follows an upper middle class, simple, fun-loving, a bit disorganized housewife madly in love with her husband named Sri who falls prey to society's glitz and glamour and in the bargain loses her own identity. In today's malevolent world, where the outer appearance means everything Sri falls victim to the cliched problem of overall personality and outward appearance that irks all the minds - from teenagers to adults and beyond. What happens next forms the crux of the story.
