Rupankar, Ujjaini, Manomoy form new band, release single

Bagchi have joined hands to form a band –

UMR

– that promises to offer original music in the Bangla band scene in Bengal. On Thursday, the trio launched its first single, Jab Barse Sona, which is penned by Ujjaini and composed by Rupankar.


Ruankar, the mastermind of the initiative said, “UMR brings together two versatile performers, Ujjaini and Manomay, along with me. This platform will now continue to create original numbers in Hindi. I am very hopeful that the audience will enjoy our music,” said National Award-winning singer Rupankar.


Talking about the initiative, Ujjaini said, “Rupankarda has always been a guiding star in my career. One day, he called me and asked if I could pen lyrics of a tune he composed. I was really excited and that’s how the song began. I am really looking forward to the band’s journey.”

Manomoy

said, “Kolkata has been a hub of culture. The city has always welcomed new concepts. We three come from diverse musical backgrounds. Under this umbrella, we will explore a unique genre of music.”
