Rupam, Paroma collaborate to celebrate womanhood
It’s International Women’s Day and Rupam Islam and Paroma Banerjee joined hands to celebrate the occasion with a song, Ekla Pothe. It has been penned and composed by Rupam, while Paroma has lent her voice to it.
“We don’t think there should be just one day for women. However, it is a day that marks the struggle of women for equality. We respect the day and hence the tribute,” Rupam told us.
The song, Ekla Pothe, is not a new one.

The duo had recorded it earlier. “It was not published and we were looking for a day to make it a tribute to womanhood,” Rupam added.
The song talks about the journey of a woman and Paroma thinks it’s very relevant today. “It talks about a journey that only a woman undertakes. I loved the song when I first heard it. Even today, when I hear it, I see the relevance. It is a very nicely written song,” she said.
