Bengali rock band Prithibi was officially launched in Kolkata in 2001 at Asutosh College. The band gained popularity among the music lovers when they became the first runner up in a competition, Band-E-Mataram in 2005. The 18 year old rock band now has 3 albums to its name and a song that was even used in Kaushik Ganguly’s film ‘Kishore Kumar Junior’.
However, last December the band got dissolved because of some internal issues as three members left. Then Koushik reformed the band in January this year, naming it Reincarnation 2020. Interestingly, the current members are all new faces. The present lineup is Kaushik (lead vocals, composer, lyricist), Deep (bass, backing vocals), Arunangshu (guitar) and Aniruddha (drums, percussions & backing vocal) , Deepayan ( keyboard , backing vocal), Debangshu (guitar).
The band celebrated a re-launch ceremony recently along with a special screening of their debut music video “Mukti” featuring the new band members. The song titled Mukti, deals with breaking away from emotional bondage and hopelessness and again staring afresh. The video has been directed by Samik Roy Choudhury.
The song is now available on all digital audio-video platforms.
