Dohar frontman Kalika Prasad Bhattacharjee’s untimely demise in a road accident sent shockwaves through Bengal last year. It also threw a few projects out of gear. One among them was Pavel’s Rosogolla, based on the life of Nabin Chandra Das. After initial hiccups,
Pavel has now completed the album with the help of Souptik and Soumo, associates of the late composer.
“He had told me we’ll meet after Dol as both of us were keeping busy. He needed to sit with me and discuss the use of sarangi in a song. Alas, that was not to be. Apart from the background score, the rest of the album is now ready,” said Pavel, who feels it’s Kalika Prasad’s best work till date. “He felt challenged by the project and at the same time was excited that such cutting-edge work was happening in Kolkata; it’s a huge experiment. Also, Harish Sagane, who scored for
Vikram Bhatt’s 1921 and Arnab Dutta have contributed to the soundtrack with one song each.”
