She shared pictures and a video of her performance on her social media handles. In the video, she said, “It is a great moment for us, for Bengalis, to celebrate Bengali New Year. We have great culture, music and literature that we would love to share with the world. So really a heartfelt thanks to the authority of New York who allowed us to sing our songs and share our love with the world (sic).”

Parvathy Baul studied closely with two of the most respected Baul Gurus of the previous generation, Sri Sanatan Das Thakur Baul and Sri Shashanko Goshai. When she was asked what she was going to do in Times Square, she explained, “It's a celebration that gives meaning to so many people who work silently and contribute to this society. Yet they are thirsty and ever looking forward to connect to the roots and celebrate our culture. I want to do my bit.”
