Papon casts his spell over students at JU fest

The curtains came down on the nine-day long fest of Jadavpur University, Sanskriti, in association with TOI, last Sunday.
With Papon & The East India Company in performance, it sure was a thumping closure to the annual festival. As thousands of students from across the city poured in to listen to the Maula sun le re singer — some still drenched in the Holi colours and abir — Papon gave them exactly what they were hoping for.As soon as Angaraag Papon Mahanta took to the stage and shouted, “Hoche ta ki Sanskriti?”, a deafening cheer erupted from the crowd. And then Papon unleashed his magic. With hits like Damadam mast kalandar, Kyon, Aaj khub megh koruk, and also an Assamese song, the singer cast his spell over JU. Youngsters danced till they were out of breath and their enthusiasm definitely rubbed off on Papon and his band, who screamed at them, “You guys are awesome!” Well, so are you, Papon!
