Musician Rajkumar shares his experience of working with Silajit
Musician Rajkumar Sengupta has been focussing on independent music for the past two pandemic years. Much has been said about the plight of musicians, especially ones who accompany bands and individual singers and those who work backstage. The pandemic has robbed them off an opportunity to make a decent living. Like many musicians who came forward in support, Rajkumar Sengupta, who has worked in big Bollywood films like Salman Khan-starrer Race 3 and Rajkummar Rao-starrer Shaadi Mein Zaroor Aana, has decided to work for independent music.

He said, "It's always film music that get importance. The pandemic made me realise how independent music and musicians needed support. I have worked in both the forms but have been concentrating on independent music recently."
The musician is happy to have scored two recent single videos with Piya Chakraborty and Silajit Majumder. "Silajitda is one of my most favourite singers and a loved one. I had worked with him a decade back when he wanted me to sing for him. Although since then, I have worked with quite a few names in Bengal such as Anupam Roy, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Rupam Islam and so on, Silajitda has my heart. In fact, we were discussing about working more often. We share the same passion for independent music and want to take it forward," he said.
Talking about their work together, Rajkumar said it is a new form at least in the Bangla music scenario. "I don't think there has been many Bangla rap being made and we did this with a twist at the end. Both Silajitda's fanbase and Bangla music lovers have loved the mix," Rajkumar said, adding that the mixing happened in Mumbai where he lives. He was in Kolkata for a couple of months for the work, Bhari Megh Tobu Brishti Nei, to take shape.
