More than 20 singers to pay tribute to Goutam Chattopadhyay
Singers from different nooks and corners of the city are gearing up to pay tribute to legendary musician, Goutam Chattopadhyay. From Usha Uthup, Upal Sengupta, Anupam Roy to Anindya Chattopadhyay and many others will perform songs of the musician, as well as those of Subrata Ghosh, Joyjit Lahiri, Arunendu Das, Dibyo Mukhopadhyay, Pradip Chattopahyay, Surojit Chatterjee and Debojyoti Mishra. While many songs are actually written and composed by Goutam, many songs by other artistes are part of the albums that are curated by Moheener Ghoraguli later in ’90s.“Baba loved Arunda’s songs. There are songs by Subrata Ghosh, Joyjit Lahiri and others, which were part of later albums. We all will celebrate those songs,” said Gaboo, Goutam’s son and drummer of Lakkhichhara. “Earlier, we have hosted a show in December 2017. We had to give it a miss in 2018, as we all were dispersed here and there. This year, Debaditya (Chowdhury) and all of us took the initiative and now it will take place soon,” he added.Debaditya, too, is very busy arranging the event. “Lakhhichhara is the backbone of the music that will be presented and we all are very busy. We have been rehearsing almost every day for the past two months. We will have an acoustic grand piano on stage. We will use dotara, khamak, dubki, melodica and other instruments. We want to present a magical soundscape,” he said.
