Debajyoti Mishra composes for Anurag-Rituparna film

Music director Debajyoti Mishra is composing music for director Hari Viswanathan’s second feature film titled Bansuri. While the film has director Anurag Kashyap playing a very important role, the cast also includes Raghuvir Yadav, Rituparna Sengupta and Chitrangada Chakraborty. In the film, Rituparna will essay the role of Anurag’s wife and Chitrangada will play the role of a

flute

teacher.

Hari, who hails from Chennai, forayed into films with Radiopetti in 2015. It went on to become the first Tamil film to win the Audience Award Best Film in the official competition at the Busan International Film Festival. The director fell in love with Debajyoti’s work after listening to his music from Sanjoy Nag’s Memories in March (2011) and Raincoat (2004). “He contacted me and told me about the project. I was really excited and happy to collaborate with Hari,” said Debajyoti.

The film is about a single mother and the way she raises her child. No one gets to know about her husband in the beginning of the film. Meanwhile, the child often goes to play with a kid in the neighbourhood. This kid’s father is a musician. One day, the child picks up his friend’s piano and plays it beautifully. Those in the audience applaud him and say that talent is in his blood. That prompts the child to come home and ask his mother what’s in his blood. His mother gives him a flute. He learns it, thinking his father could play it well. The film is about what happens when the child confronts his father. “There are three sweet lies in the film. These are the kind of lies we use to save someone or to prevent hurting someone,” Debajyoti added.

The film has three songs, out of which two are getting recorded by Shreya Ghoshal and Papon. For the third song, Debajyoti is looking for a fresh voice. “In the film, different musical

instruments

have been used. The flute plays a very important role in creating the background music,” Debajyoti said. Shooting for the film will start from May 25 in north Bengal.
