Mayookh Bhaumik to perform with saxophonist George Brooks at a Kolkata concert

Saxophone wizard George Brooks and tabla player Mayookh Bhaumik are all set to take the stage in Kolkata this month. Joining them will be National Award-winning composer and guitarist Prabuddha Banerjee and guitar virtuoso Bodhisattwa Ghosh. “I’m really excited to play with George after so many years and for the first time in India. Prabuddha is one of my oldest collaborators and Bodhisattwa and I will be performing together for the first time.I’m really looking forward to it” said Mayookh.
The fusion concert will focus on Indo-jazz rhythms. In a chat with CT, Brooks shared his thoughts on sharing the stage with Mayookh.
“It must’ve been close to 15 years…. when I first met and performed with Mayookh. So it’s quite a treat after so many years to come to Kolkata and perform with him again now that he’s become not only a great percussionist but a wonderful composer and producer. I’m really excited to see what kind of music happens at this very special reunion” said Brooks.
