Manomay is greeted by pollution on returning from the US

Manomay Bhattacharya hasn’t been a part of Kolkata’s Durga Puja for the last 15 years. He usually spends the festival away from home, doing shows either abroad or in other states within the country. This year, too, the singer was not in town during Puja. He left for a show in the US on October 1 and came back on October 22. However, ever since he returned from abroad, Manomay has been facing the side-effects of heavy pollution. “This Puja, I performed in six major cities across the US and it was quite nice. But I’ve become a victim of air pollution after returning to Kolkata,” he said.

of his throat is very important for Manomay. But he is finding it difficult to cope with the pollution and fume in the city air. “As long as I stay indoors, it’s fine. But whenever I’m travelling, I have to pull up the windows to stop the dust and fumes from entering my car,” he said. One of the biggest problems he faces due to the pollution is blocked nose and Manomay often uses nasal drops for that. Besides, he said that the best way to keep his voice in good condition is rehearsing on a daily basis.
After releasing a Rabindrasangeet album recently, Manomay is currently busy with multiple projects. While a number of films like Durgeshgorer Guptodhon and Basu Poribar have released, Aparna Sen’s next, Ghawre Bairey Aaj, will release soon. The theme song of Ghawre Bairey Aaj, sung by Manomoy, has already created quite a buzz.
