Lopamudra thrilled with her new musical setup
Lopamudra and Different Soulmates hosted their first gig at ICCR recently. After the first show with her new musical setup, singer Lopamudra Mitra is not just happy, but also satisfied with her music. “This is not for my regular audience. This is definitely not a setup I would like to take to every show I go to. This is an exclusive setup that I would like to perform occasionally, only to a select audience,” she said.

By her own admission, Lopamudra gets bored very easily, even with the songs that she performs regularly. “I get bored very quickly. I have been singing for so long. I wanted to take a break from the monotony. I am absolutely thrilled to be able to pull it off. We have rehearsed for months and I enjoyed each and every moment of this journey,” the singer said.
The singer, along with Chayan Chakraborty in the guitar and banjo, Somnath Roy on the ghatam and ganjira, Agnitroy Chakroborty on the cajon, wave drums and percussion and Soumyojyoti Ghosh on the flute, dovanka, cazoo, harmonica and harmonium, rendered old songs in soulful arrangements.
“We rehearsed for a couple of months and those were some of the best moments of my life. I rediscovered my old songs and saw what kind of wonder just the banjo and flute can do. Ami khub shanti peyechi ei project-ta kore. I am 52 now. I don’t know how long I’m going to live but I want to die with a song on my lips,” Lopamudra said.
