Kolkata to have statues of SD Burman and Kishore Kumar

Statues of two legendary musical personalities, SD Burman and Kishore Kumar who wielded magic with so many hit songs, will be installed at the Southern Avenue – Keyatala connector on October 22 by

Amit Kumar Fan Club

and the statues will be inaugurated by none other than Amit Kumar, son of Kishore Kumar.

The

Kolkata Municipal Corporation

(KMC) has given a plot (a thematic garden) where the statues will be installed just opposite the R D Burman statue which was also installed by the same fan club in 2014. The place where the full busts will be installed is near the South End Park where SD Burman used to live before he left for Mumbai in the early 1950s.

Speaking about the statues Amit Kumar said: “It’s great to see my father and Sachin Karta’s statues will be installed finally. There is already a RD statue, now SD and my father will join him. I feel honoured to see these legends in my lifetime. It would be great place for their fans to visit.”
