Band members of Cactus, Buti and Abhirup, recently teamed up with singer Debanjali Lily for a Bangla pop song for Durga Puja. The song, Phirey Aaye, has been inspired by creations of Michael Jackson, Abba, Madonna, Nazia Hassan,

Alisha Chinai

and others. The video features Buti and Debanjali.

The trio conceptualised the song during the lockdown and worked on it from the confines of their homes. Abhirup penned the lyrics and Buti composed the almost overnight. Debanjali recorded the vocals, improvising a bit in her own style of singing. Sayan Ghosh came on board to lend his expertise in mixing and mastering the audio and make it sound peppy.

Talking about the song, which is the trio’s second Bangla pop number, Buti said, “I wished to establish a genre named Bangla pop for a long time in the popular music scene. So, Debanjali, Abhirup and I came up with Phirey Aaye. I have received a lot of positive feedback from young music lovers in the city since its release. I plan to work more on this particular genre in future.”
