Bengali girl Aditi Paul has sung a romantic song for Sonakshi Sinha in the recent horror comedy
Kakuda. Aditi appreciated the freshness of the composition, Shukra Guzar, where she sings alongside Gulraj Singh.“I fell in love with the song the moment I heard it. Gulraj is an amazingly talented musician. The lyrics are beautifully written by Manoj Yadav. They complement the composition perfectly. Also, I’ve sung for Sonakshi Sinha before in
Lingaa, which was composed by the legendary AR Rahman Sir,” said Aditi.
The Kolkata-born singer, who began her formal training in classical music under the tutelage of Pt. Ajoy Chakraborty, found fame when she sang
Ang Laga De in
Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela. Aditi followed up her success with
Veeron ke Veer Aa from
Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. Later, she has sung for various films in several languages. But throughout her playback journey in Bollywood, Aditi always remained deeply connected to her roots. She made sure she watched Bengali films and sang Bengali songs, staying true to her roots. “I’ve sung a Rabindra Sangeet,
Je Raate Mor Duarguli, and it was a wonderful experience. I was, in fact, a little intimidated in the beginning as I grew up listening to the rendition of the same song by the legendary Debabrata Biswas from
Meghe Dhaka Tara, which I think is the best rendition ever. So, I had to channelise my fear into happiness because I truly believe that it was one of the most beautiful opportunities I’ve had so far,” she said.
Meanwhile, Aditi likes to call herself a Santiniketan girl more than a Kolkata girl. And she listens to all forms of Bengali music be it films, non-films, folk or classical. She also harbours the dream to collaborate more on Bengali music. “I do listen to a lot of Bengali music, and it goes without saying that I love them. I listen to a lot of old Bengali songs. It’s so enriching and there’s so much to learn,” said Aditi, who recently watched Abhinandan Banerjee’s debut Bengali directorial
Manikbabur Megh and can’t stop gushing about it.
