Like every year, this time too percussionist
Bickram Ghosh is associated with the Kolkata Film Festival and the musician said that this year KIFF is different and special for him in many ways. As of Tuesday, Bickram has gone twice to the festival and he attended the screening of
Subhrajit Mitra’s Abhijatrik. “Despite the 50% occupancy rule it was a full house and I was really happy to see that.
Each and every person was wearing a mask and maintained social distancing. This shows the sense of responsibility and the courage the human race has mustered,” said Bickram.
For these reasons, Bickram thinks that more than a celebration of films, this is the celebration of human spirit. “Despite everything, people are gathering at the festival for their love of films and it is no mean feat,” he said.
According to him, people are rightfully scared and doing everything to keep themselves safe. “For me, KIFF has strong symbolic importance and that’s how people are trying to come back to normal life again. They are fighting with the existing situation and adapting the new normal. This is the biggest celebration for me,” Bickram added.
