Kamalini and Srijato to host a soiree

Singer Kamalini Mukherji and poet

are all set for an adda, called Alaap. Rabindrasangeet artiste Kamalini, who lives in the US, will be performing live in Kolkata after years. While she will be singing, Srijato will be reading pieces connected to the music.

“We don’t have any fixed script. While most of my audience knows me for Tagore’s songs, I’ll also perform Atul Prasadi and DL Roy’s numbers. Srijato will read out from a range of works,” she revealed.

While elaborating on the name of the show, Kamalini said, “The name has layers to it. In Indian classical music, alaap takes to you to the main piece of any

. Our conversation will do the same. It will also pose as an introduction. Srijato and I will introduce ourselves to the audience. Also, I will get introduced to Srijato through this journey. I’m sure it will be a great experience.”

Kamalini is also looking forward to the fact that it’s a live performance. “While recorded albums give a finer outcome of the soundscape, there is something special about live shows. I love the spontaneity and the instant exchange of emotions. I work regularly on Bengali projects, but live shows are different. I will be doing it after a while and I’m really looking forward to it,” she signed off.
