Kabir Suman sings for Asansol imam
The communal tension in Asansol following a Ram Navami procession claimed the life of the 16-year-old son, Hafiz Sibghatullah Rashidi, of Maulana Imdadullah Rashidi, the Khateeb of Noorani Masjid Asansol. Despite the deep personal loss, he appealed to his followers to remain calm and maintain peace and not to retaliate following the brutal killing of his son.

By doing so, he set an unprecedented example of peace and harmony. To pay tribute to the mourning father, Kabir Suman has composed a song — Sholo bocchorer chhele ta khun korle kojone mile. While introducing the song, which is available on YouTube, Suman said he, like others, could only make a song as it was inspiring the way the Maulana pacified the gang. “I would have posted it on Facebook, but I fear my account can be blocked. Earlier too, my account was blocked and out of the two, I am only left with one account now. Please listen to the song and spread it among music lovers,” he appealed to one and all.
