Gabu conveys gratitude to electricity engineers and relief workers

Even 72 hours after

Cyclone Amphan

made an exit — leaving behind a trail of death and destruction — many pockets of Kolkata remain without power, network and water. City roads are still strewn with mangled cables and uprooted trees. While the people of Bengal cope with the harsh aftermath of the cyclone, rescue and relief operations are on in full swing. Since the day of the cyclone, percussionist Gaurab Chatterjee, aka Gabu, had power cut. After days of no electricity, power has finally been restored in his area. Gabu, who clearly heaved a sigh of relief, has declared his plan to sleep for next two days.

On his social media, he also wrote, “We finally have power after 5 nights without it. This was probably one of the toughest situations I have faced in the recent past. The

CESC engineers

were constantly getting hijacked by people from

different localities

because the cyclone wrecked power lines across the city. In comparison to sheer magnitude of the damage, the number of CESC personnel is really low. There were literal fights taking place between people from different paras. Hats off to everyone at

Naktala Tritiyo Palli

for sticking together and being strong and not giving up in face of great adversity. We may not have the numbers, but we make up for it in spirit. Big up to the CESC engineers who have been doing a tremendous job under massive stress and very difficult working conditions.”
